A teen who observes the basic manners, who dosent observe it out of pretense but knows that this is the right thing to do anytime, anywhere will be very beneficial to the parents, to the society and even to his/her self. They are easily loved, respected and admired. Sometimes, teens go through phases where they want to look cool and manners go out of the window. Good manners are about respecting yourself and others. You will make life more enjoyable for you and people who come into contact with you if you have good manners.
HERE ARE SOME BASIC MANNERS, YOU NEED TO OBSERVE…
-DO NOT BE A SLAVE TO YOUR CELL PHONE÷ You dont use your phoneswhile you are in the middle of something important like pressing your phone while, while your parents are speaking to you, at the dinner table, etc. This attitude shows how disrespectful and lack of manners, you have got. You dont have to respond to messages or emails unless if its very important and urgent.
-TAKE CARE OF BASIC HYGIENE÷ Cover your mouth while yawning, do not yawn so loud, opening your mouth so wide. Cough into your elbow, cover your mouth when sneezing, do not pick your nose with your hands etc.
–Always stand when introduced, speak slowly, clearly and graciously when talking to adults.
YOU DONT TALK BACK AT YOUR PARENTS ÷ Where on earth did you learn such a dirty act? Talking back at people that matter so much in your life. Even if your parents are bad, you still have to accord them their respect as you disobey their negative teachings.
-ENSURE TO WEAR A CLEAN, IRONED AND DECENT CLOTHES ÷ Dressing inappropriately is wrong and its not attractive. It is of a better view to always know what to wear for certain events and occasions. Make it a habit to always wear clean, ironed and decent clothes.
-ASK PERMISSION TO DO THINGS÷ Anytime you realise that you can do anything you want without seeking for permission then know that you lack manners and you might get yourself into trouble one day. Especially if your parents or guardians cant stop you from doing whatever you want to do as a teen.
–Say “excuse me” when you need to interrupt in a conversation or you accidentally bump into someone.
–Do not answer calls when you are in the middle of face-to-face conversation with your elders.
-When someone ask you questions, learn to use appropriate language and answers. You don’t use slangs unless in a playful atmosphere.
– Apologise when you have done something wrong. Learn to say “please” and “thank you”.
Do not loose sight of basic manners because your attitudes is the first thing people see before they can interact with you.

Never receive counsel from unproductive people. Not everyone has a right to speak into your life.
You are certain to get the worst of the bargain when you exchange ideas with the wrong person.
Do not follow anyone who is not going anywhere.Nowadays, there are so many people to follow with the help of social media. The question is, who are you following? Where are they going and where are they taking you to? Do not forget that, every journey has a destination. With some people you spend an evening; with others you invest it.
Be careful where you stop to inquire for directions along the road of life. Wise is the person who fortified his life with the right friendships.
CONSIDER Francesco Guicciardini say : “since there is nothing so well worth having as friends, never lose a chance to make the right ones”.
Choose your associations carefully invest in good relationship.
Teen age is a time of uncertainty. It is a rapid physical development and deep emotional changes. Most times the teenager gets confuse, left in a state of dilemma and don’t really know what to do .
Here are few advices that can guide you at this age.
DON’T TRY TO PLAN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE OUT
Take it one step by step at a time, you don’t need to rush things. Do not put a specific time frame on the major events in your life – I will buy my first car at this age ,build my mansion before I got to this age, marry at this age. Most times it does not just work like this. You must be very much aware of unpredictability of life. It may not happen the way you planned or predicted. Have it in mind, so you dont get depressed.
RESPECT AND OBEY YOUR PARENTS,TEACHERS AND ELDERS
They may not say what you want to hear or give you what you want to have or even allow you do what you want to do but they can give you all you need to have inorder to get whatever you want in life,if only you will be obedient and respectful especially to the GOOD ones around you. Stay open minded to their views and opinions.
DO NOT BE IN A HASTE TO GROW UP
Try to embrace your childhood or teen age for as long as you can because this is the only time you can live the most carefree time of your days on earth. Adulthood and their thing will come pretty soon .
FRIENDS WILL COME AND GO
Have this at the back of your mind that very few friends of yours today will still remain your friends when you become an adult. Maintain the friendship you truly treasure now but you must not throw away your morals or happiness because you want to keep one.
SAYING “NO” IS VERY OKAY
You have to know how to say NO and maintain your NO. You must not put yourself in danger or allow peer pressure to decide for you, go for the positive vibes…saying NO is very okay.
SEEK HELP WHEN THINGS GET TOO MUCH
You dont even need to wait until it gets too much. Once you encounter any issue that gives you concern or you are confused on how to handle it . Seek for help ASAP. It is a very good idea to seek for help, it doesn’t really mean you are weak but of strength. It is when you have strength that you can pick up the courage to speak out. You can seek help in two ways …internal and external support which is family, friends and professional support.
YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO IS ANXIOUS
You may think you are the only one in this ,but pretty much every other person feel this way especially the teens. Always remind yourself that your friends and peers go through this. Just learn how to reduce the intensity of these emotions.
YOUR VIEWS WILL CHANGE OVER TIME
What seems very cool in your eyes now can change as you progress through your teen age, let alone when you become an adult. So dont hurt yourself or die having it now because there are so many beautiful things to choose from in future.
